Hello, I’m Alison! I own and run Cakes by Alison Fawkes from my family home in Thursby, Cumbria.

Baking is a love and a passion brought about by a family of cake lovers and a flair for art and design. I was brought up on a farm on the edge of the Lake District, a place where I hold all my most treasured childhood memories. Here my mum and great Aunt taught me to bake from a young age.

My career did not initially lead me to the kitchen. I worked in sales for 12 years for a local company in the building trade during that time I made my son his first birthday cake which was a great success. I then over the years I started making cakes for family and friends until April 2018, when I was made redundant whilst pregnant with my second child.

9 months later it seemed no better opportunity, a combination of my passions and a job that would fit around my family life led to the birth of Cakes by Alison Fawkes.
